Product name:Human α-enolase ELISA Kit
Description:
Enolase (enol + suffix -ase) or 2-phospho-D-glycerate hydrolyase is an enzyme that participates in glycolysis.
Enolase catalyzes the conversion of 2-phosphoglycerate (2PG) to phosphoenolpyruvate (PEP), the penultimate step in the conversion of glucose to pyruvate.
In humans there are five distinct enolase isozymes,Alpha-enolase (ENO1) is ubiquitous in the cytoplasm of cells.Beta (ENO3 ) is associated with muscle tissue. Gamma (ENO2) is neuronal specific. A type of enolase in glycolysis is phosphopyruvate hydratase.
Enolase 1, more commonly known asα-enolase, is a glycolytic enzyme expressed in most tissues, one of the isozymes of enolase. It is a homodimer composed of 2 alpha subunits.
Its gene, the ENO1, also encodes the Myc-binding protein-1(MBP1), which downregulates the activity of c-myc protooncogene. Alpha-enolase is the longer form (48 kDa) localized in both cytoplasm and nuclei, while MBP1 is shorter (37 kDa) and is found mostly in the nuclei.Alpha-enolase has been identified as an autoantigen in Hashimotos encephalopathy.
