Description:
Biotin is a water-soluble B-complex vitamin (vitamin B7) that is composed of an ureido (tetrahydroimidizalone) ring fused with a tetrahydrothiophene ring. A valeric acid substituent is attached to one of the carbon atoms of the tetrahydrothiophene ring. Biotin is a coenzyme in the metabolism of fatty acids and leucine, and it plays a role in gluconeogenesis.
D-biotin is a nutritional supplement. It can be used in food industry as processing assistant. The product has physiological functions such as preventing skin disease and promoting lipid metabolism. High consumption of raw protein can lead to biotin deficiency. As a coenzyme of carboxylase, it is involved in many carboxylation reactions and is an important coenzyme used as food fortifier in the intermediate metabolism of sugar, protein and fat. It can be used for infant food. The dosage is 0.1 ~ 0.4mg/kg, and 0.02 ~ 0.08mg/kg in drinking liquid.
